With the start of a new year comes new goals and achievements people want for the coming year. I am no stranger to making unrealistic new years resolutions and then failing before January has finished, along with the majority of everyone else. So instead I have planned some goals, which I hope to work on before the year is up and which I can work on throughout the year without too much pressure of a set finish point. Here are my goals for 2016!
Learn to SCUBA Dive
This has been on my bucket list for years and years, so it’s about time I did something about it! And what a better place to learn than here in Australia. I want to do the course in the next few months and get a few dives in by the end of the year and hopefully in 2017 I can progress further and eventually get to Dive Master!
Complete regional work
I don’t want to do this one but I have to to get a 2nd year visa. 88 days of hard farm work, but it will all be worth it to stay here for another year so I’m just going to power through. I’m still not sure where I will be doing this either but probably somewhere south so it’s not too hot. Again this will be happening within the next 6 months so I’ll keep y’all updated!
Get this blog up and running
This is going to be the year I get this blog properly running. Making a schedule and sticking to it, posting and sharing content consistently and really making it a priority. I have worked on creating it for a few months and it’s about time I clicked publish and share it with the world.
Improve photography technical knowledge
I love photography and taking photos but I have very limited technical knowledge of how to properly work a camera. And I carry 3 around with me! And I did photography at A-Level! I know.. I’m a bad photographer. But I want to change this, so I have subscribed to Amateur Photographer magazine with lots of interesting articles and will be spending more time reading and learning to improve my images.
Try more new things
Diving, paddle boarding, surfing, snorkelling, zip-lining, caving.. anything and everything. I want this year to be filled with new experiences and really make the most of travelling the East Coast. I may even do a sky-dive if I’m feeling brave. I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and really embrace every opportunity I am faced with.
Visit a new country
Now I put this one last as I don’t know if I will achieve it. My 1st year WHV runs out at the end of November so currently I think I will take a month to explore some of the close Indonesian islands (Java, Borneo, Bali etc.) to break up Australia before returning to start my 2nd year visa (that is if I have saved enough money!). I think it will be nice to explore a completely different culture from anything I have experienced before.
So there you have it, some of my goals for the upcoming year! These are all achievable for me and I am determined to achieve each and every one.
